The SCGHA is a proud Tourism Hamilton 2011 Sports Ambassador nominee.
We do take great pride that our tournaments have attracted, and continue to attract teams of all levels from across North America. Glenn Boles, our tournament director works tirelessly to ensure a variety of competitors and competitive groupings. Our 2011 Sweetheart Tournament saw 20 round robin games go into overtime and 19 remain tied! Our Showcase Tournaments attracted scouts and coaches from many universities and Hockey Canada. We are very honour to have been nominated for two consecutive years!
Congratulations to Stacey Marnoch!
Our own Intermediate AA coach Stacey Marnoch was the appointed the head coach of Silver Medallist Team Ontario Canada Winter Games in Halifax Feb. 11-27/11!
Way to go Stacey!

The SCGHA was very saddened by the loss of our long time friend and volunteer,
Louanne Zamperin on May 6, 2011.
Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this difficult time.
Louanne was a fixture at our FUNdamentals welcome table on Sunday mornings, trainer for her daughter's teams and secretary on our executive.
To post an on line condolence to her family, please do so here.

On May 6, 2010, the SCGHA was honoured by the City of Hamilton by being the recipient of the inaugural Dr. Gene Sutton Award of Club Excellence.

This award was in recognition for our efforts at promoting healthy living and an active lifestyle. Our association was selected from all of the volunteer driven, youth amateur sports associations in Hamilton.

Thank you to all for your continued efforts and thank you to the selection committee for this distinction.

tobaccofree The SCGHA Is Tobacco Free
The SCGHA adopted a Tobacco Free Policy in 2009. Our association promotes a healthy, active lifestyle for our members and their families. Studies have shown that children who enjoy recreation will continue to be active into adulthood. As an association we strive to provide quality programs and role models.

What is Tobacco-Free Sports & Recreation?
Tobacco-free sport and recreation means everyone taking part in a sport or recreational activity does not use tobacco industry products. It means participants, spectators, coaches and leaders do not smoke, snuff, dip, or chew tobacco while engaged in the activities of your organization.
allstar Snacks
Providing healthy snacks at community sports gives adults the chance to show children that healthy eating and physical activity are a winning combination. Children learn about healthy eating at school, but they need support at home and in the community to help put those lessons into action.

Young children need a variety of nutrients to be active. Water, protein, carbohydrates, fat, vitamins, and minerals all count towards making them good athletes. A well-nourished child can play better for longer, stay more alert, and recover more quickly.

SCGHA Hockey Bags !!!
There are three styles, all with the SCGHA logo, in stock and ready to go:
The Junior wheeled bag is great for our youngest members-from FUNdamentals up to Pee Wee
The Senior wheeled bag is great for our older players and for our players young at heart
The Pro bag, the long time favourite of our rep teams is also available

The Stoney Creek Girls Hockey Association is a proud recognized affiliated youth user group within the City of Hamilton. To qualify for youth ice subsidization our association must comply with a City stipulated minimum of 95% resident membership.
To best enhance our SCGHA programs, the executive decided that the AA programs have first option to the majority of non-resident player positions. Should the non resident quota not be consumed by these programs, these positions shall be open to other programs on a case by case basis. The Intermediate AA program is separate from the other programs and has their own criteria for non-residents.
